Title: PARTS OF THE SUN

1
PARTS OF THE SUN
2
Our Sun Four Main Layers
  • the corona
  • the chromosphere
  • the photosphere
  • the core

3
Corona
  • The corona is the outer most layer of our sun.
  • Most scientist believe that it is about 1,700,000
    degrees Celsius in temperature.
  • The corona is the bright halo that is still
visible to us during a total eclipse.
  • Scientist wait eagerly for solar eclipse to
gather more information about our suns corona.

4
Chromosphere
  • Moving inward from the Corona, the next layer of
    the sun is the Chromosphere.
  • The Chromosphere is the layer that appears as a
red disk when the sun is photographed.
  • The Chromosphere is 27,800 degrees celcius.

5
Photosphere
  • The Photosphere is the third layer of the sun as
you move inward from the Chromosphere.
  • This layer is 6000 degrees Celcius.

6
Core
  • The Core is the inner most layer of the sun.
  • It is about 15,000,000 degrees celcius.
  • The Core is presently the site of most of the
nuclear fusion that is producing energy on our
    sun.

7
  • From studying our sun and exploring its various
layers, astronomers can better understand the
    other stars in our universe.
