CHALLENGE

• Existing mfg work packaging process was
  inefficient causing excess overhead and
  production delays.
• Needed to re-engineer the work package processes
  to provide immediate cost savings to DDG program
  and to ensure that competitive advantage is
  maintained on future class builds.

• Reduce touch labor and time in generating work
  order packages. This will allow the w/os to
  cycle through the planning phase and into the
  Installation and fabrication phases much sooner.

Utilizing web based, PLM technology within a
shipyard environment

• New Windchill based Electronic Drawing Release
  (EDR) allows for complete automation of work
  packages.
• Before Windchill, each trade followed unique,
  manual processes contents. Now, archiving,
  searching, and historical reuse are possible.
  Before, complete recreation of work package was
  necessary.
• Work package Planners reduced by 40. ROI of 2M
  annually. Countless shipyard processes are
  leveraging Work Package Authorization solution.
