OCLC Mobile Collections in Partnership with
Sony
  • OCLC and Sony are partnering to deliver OCLC
    eBook collections designed specifically to be
    read on the Sony eBook Reader.
  • Libraries can choose to order these collections
    in one of two ways 1) Mobile Collection one
    copy of each title, exclusively for use with the
    Sony Reader, includes Sony Reader PRS-505 and the
    required Adobe license 2) Mobile Collection Plus
    two copies of each title, one set of titles for
    use with the Sony Reader and one set for standard
    online use.

  • Mobile Collection package pricing reflects
  • A 10 discount on the titles and prepaid access
    fee
  • A SONY PRS 505 Reader
  • No charge for the ACS license.
  • Mobile Collection Plus package pricing reflects
    Mobile Collection pricing plus no prepaid access
    fee on the second copy.

Media Center One-Click Downloads
  • Over 100 libraries have opened up Media Center to
    their patrons
  • Over 2,000 patrons have downloaded Media Center

Licensed Content Platform Project Database
Searching Using the WorldCat.org User Interface
  • Objective Timeframe
  • Use the WorldCat.org platform and UI as the end
    user platform for accessing content licensed from
    OCLC
  • Make all OCLC Licensed Content searchable via the
    platform UI by July 1, 2009
  • Library Benefits
  • Easier end user access to authoritative databases
    and content
  • No additional fee to use this new option its a
    free choice
  • Minimal change needed to make available
  • Existing platform access to via FirstSearch
    content stays available

The BIG PICTURE
  • OCLC is moving toward offering its content on a
    single discovery platform WorldCat.org
  • On July 1, OCLC will make available all the
    content licensed from OCLC through the
    WorldCat.org platform and user interface.
  • Libraries will be able to access all the content
    they license from OCLC, FirstSearch databases,
    NetLibrary eBooks and eAudiobooks, Archive Grid
    and CAMIO through the WorldCat.org user interface
  • In mid-2009 WorldCat Local will add a metasearch
    feature that will enable libraries to search
    their physical and digital collections in a
    single search.
