3On May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, a
suburb of Boston, John F. Kennedy was born.

4This picture is John as a 8 year old on Halloween
night as a cop.
5During his childhood Jack was always sick. His
mom credited the sickness as the reason for his
great reading skills.
This is John as a 11-year old boy
61936-1940
Jack went to Harvard University, where he played
football, swimming and sailing. He injured his
back in a football game an injury that bothered
him for the rest of his life.
7After graduating from college Jack tried to find
a job he wanted to join the army, but because of
his old back injury they refused to enlist him.
After a few months of training he successfully
enlisted in the Navy.
8He was assigned to the boat PT 109. His boat was
hit by a Japanese destroyer in 1942. He saved
most of his crew from death. He was awarded with
a medal for bravery.
9In 1953 John married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier. They
had three children Caroline, John Jr. and
Patrick. Patrick only lived a few days.
10John Kennedy was a talented writer. He won a
Pulitzer Prize for his book Profiles in Courage
in 1956 while a Senator from Massachusetts.
11In 1960 John decided to run for president he was
the youngest president ever elected!
12In April 1961, there was a nuclear missile crisis
with the Soviet Union. John was courageous, calm,
and avoided nuclear war!

20While campaigning in Dallas, Texas in 1963
President Kennedy was assassinated in a
convertible limousine. The country was stunned
and wept at the death of the President of the
United States.
Hours later, Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in and
took the oath of office.

22John Fitzgerald Kennedy was buried in Arlington
Cemetery. His grave is marked with an eternal
flame.
