Marr Youth Action Plan

• Banchory Consultation
• In spring 2011 Community Learning and Development
  went into school PSE classes and asked approx 120
  pupils what current issues/concerns they had
  about their community and how their young lives
  and their future might be affected by planning
  decisions made and facilities provided .
• Young people involved in all our CLD groups were
  also asked for their input.
• The aim is to ensure that the views of young
  people are listened to, understood and acted
  upon, where possible, by the Council, police,
  health service, school and other organisations
  which provide services and facilities

Key Issues

• School Canteen Food should be cheaper, better
  quality and more varied
• Transport Should be cheaper with new routes and
  services to outlying villages
• Facilities lots commented on the need for
  places to go and things to do including a
  better Youth Café and Skatepark

some issues resolved?

• Many pupils complained that they did not have
  a National Entitlement Card.
• Cashless catering is now in place in the
  school and all pupils should have their NEC card
• The Box Youth Information point should not have
  been closed
• The Box is now re-opened on a Tuesday lunchtime
  to provided information and advice onYouth
  Health Issues

What happens Now?

• All of the information will be passed to the
  relevant organisations and services.
• It has been explained to the young people that
  we cant make it all happen, and that for some of
  it to happen, young people will need to be
  involved.
