1AE-FOOTPRINT The Agri-Environmental
FootprintDevelopment of a common generic
methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of
European Agri-environmental Schemes
- AE-FOOTPRINT is an EU Specific Targeted Research
Project with eight partner organisations from
seven Member States UK University of Reading
(co-ordinator) - Ireland National University of Ireland, Dublin
- Teagasc (Irish Agriculture Food Development
Authority) - Germany Institute für ländliche
Strukturforschung, Johann Wolfgang Goethe
Universität Frankfurt - Denmark Royal Veterinary and Agricultural
University - Hungary Szent Istvan University
- Greece Agricultural University of Athens

- The aim of this research is the construction of a
farm-level Agri-Environmental Footprint Index
(AFI) that aggregates the measurement of
appropriate agri-environmental indicators. - Example applications of the AFI could be to
- measure the changing environmental impact of
individual farms within a particular context
(farm type, geographical region) over time - produce a measure of environmental impact that
can be aggregated across farms of similar context - enable comparison of the environmental impact
of farms according to participation in
agri-environmental schemes.
