Introduction
Lately I have started to wonder about memory.
Probably because since my mom hit forty, she is
really worried about her memory. So I decided
for my science project to test memory. Male
memory vs. female memory. An older persons
memory vs. a younger persons memory. For my
project I wrote up a memory test with questions
from the book. I would then have people do the
test when they finished reading the first chapter
in the book and after I recorded the amount of
time it took them to read the chapter. Then I
would compare results to see who had the better
memory, women or men. For my hypothesis, I
thought that men would read faster then the women
but the women would have the better memory.

Background Information on topic
The part of the brain that controls memory is
called prosencephelon. The prosencephelon also
controls personality, intelligence, equilibrium,
respiration, smell, taste, eye movement, vision,
chewing, facial sensation, hearing, phonation,
salivation, swallowing, and it directs sense
impulses throughout the body. The prosencephelon
consists of the telencephalon, striatum,
diencephalon, lateral ventricle, and the third
ventricle. The prosencephelon is the most
anterior (front) potion of the brain. The most
known disease of the prosencephelon is
Alzheimers disease. Memory loss, poor
judgement, impaired visuospatial skills,
indifferent attitude, but preserved motor
function will characterize Alzheimers disease.
These signs can be missed because they resemble
natural signs of aging. Similar symptoms result
from grief, depression, fatigue, illness, vision
or hearing loss, or simply just the burden of too
many details to remember at once.
