(PCCM) faculty Professor Mansour Shayegan
(Department of Electrical Engineering), lead
teacher Harry Rheam, Anne Catena and PCCM
Director of Education and Outreach, Dr. Daniel
Steinberg train sixteen local elementary and
middle school teachers in content and pedagogy in
energy conversion featuring electricity
andmagnetism Professor Shayegan and others
introduce conversions from chemical to electrical
to mechanical and other energy conversions to
teachers, many from economically disadvantaged
districts. These concepts are reinforced by a
series of hands-on activities and discussions
throughout the afternoon. The program emphasizes
hands-on inquiry based learning, and the teachers
experience first hand what they will be teaching
their students
