2Objectives of the Module
- To illustrate how failing to match the content
of teaching to the ability of students may cause
poor behaviour in the classroom. - To look at establishing a shared value system
and behaviour policy throughout the school to
establish how we expect students, teachers and
others how to behave. - To look at a positive reward system and discuss
the need for sanctions. - To look at different strategies for creating a
supportive ethos within the school. ( circle
time, circle of friends, buddy system) - To look at the importance of giving children a
voice and responsibility. ( school council)

4Values and Expectations
A typical Maldivian school will aim To develop
the child intellectually and spiritually and to
train, develop and instill the skills necessary
for him/her to function as an individual and a
member of the Islamic Maldivian Society in a
responsible manner, useful to self, family and

Education) The values of the school are not just
about what we teach but how we teach it and how
students learn. The values of the school can be
seen/observed in the quality of relationships,
and in the attitude of the students towards
school.We all model our value system thorough
the way we behave. Look at the way we are dressed
for example. Do we dress the same when we go
fishing or clean the house? What sort of values
do we want students to learn?
