  • Lt. Kapadia, made the supreme sacrifice for the
    country while fighting Pakistan sponsored
    terrorists in Kashmir on November 11, 2000 at the
    age of 24
  • He was caught in the terrorist crossfire while
    rushing to the rescue of a grievously wounded
    soldier under his command

    bravest tradition of valour and sacrifice

Lt. Nawang Kapadia
  • Lived at Carmichael Road in Bombay and was
    educated in Mumbai
  • Joined the Officers Training Academy, Chennai in
    June 1999
  • Commissioned into the 4th Battalion the 3rd
    Gorkha Rifles on September 2, 2000
  • 3rd Gorkha Rifles is one of the most illustrious
    regiments in the Indian Army with a long record
    of courage and service

The Monument
  • A prominent area on the road has been identified
    and necessary permissions obtained from the
    Municipal Corporation
  • The location is opposite our house at Carmichael
    Road covered by large trees and on higher level
  • The initial design envisages
  • A tall shiny rod with a large drum at its bottom.
    The drum would possibly cover name of Lt. Nawang
    Kapadia in various scripts in Indian languages.
    Two or three small pillars and little fencing
    would be erected around it
  • The section where the monument stands, the
    surface of the road would be covered in such a
    way that each passing car notices some difference
    in driving rhythm and sound and they would be led
    to notice this monument
  • The monument will become part of the development
    of Carmichael Road
