Program
We are pleased to present the winners of the
Department for Technical Education Central Office
Awards Program a preliminary to the Cabinet for
Workforce Development Awards and Recognition
Program. Winners were named during a special
DTE central office staff meeting on Monday,
August 18, 2003. The winners in categories
for individual and group awards are as follows
110 Award - Wayne King Customer
Satisfaction Award Jill Ralston Team
Excellence Award Secondary Initiatives Branch
Partnership Award Associated Builders and
Contractors, Inc. Leadership Award - Mary
A. Stratton Distinguished Service Award -
Emil S. Jezik Department winners
were selected by three judges based on a written
application. Winners in each category will be
submitted to the Cabinets Recognition/Awards
Council. The Council will then review the
nominations and select the cabinet award winners.
The cabinets recognition program is scheduled
for October 7, 2003. Janet Stallard served
as this years DTE coordinator.

Central Office Awards Program

Wayne King accepts his award from Commissioner
Emil S. Jezik Wayne King serves as an
academic consultant in the Support Services
Branch and was nominated by Branch Manager Myra
Wilson. The 110 Award is the highest honor
presented for meritorious service or achievement
to honor an individual who has served their
department or office in an outstanding manner.
Other nominees for this award included
Elizabeth Bullock, health and human services
consultant Joe Morgan, information technology
consultant Betty Robinson, budget administrative
specialist III and Karla Tipton, internal policy
analyst III.

Jill Ralston accepts her award from Commissioner
Emil S. Jezik
Jill serves as a training and development
specialist in the Business and Industry Branch.
She was was nominated by Branch Manager Stan
Carton. Companies and related agencies that
have the opportunity to work with Jill Ralston
will attest to her level of dedication, desire to
deliver quality service and her consummate
professionalism, says Carton. The Customer
Satisfaction Award signifies the highest award
for an employee who has demonstrated continuous
meritorious service to the customers of the
cabinet.

The Team Excellence Award signifies a group
or team that provides a distinguished level of
service towards accomplishment of an important
project, goal or mission. The Secondary
Initiatives Branch was nominated by DTE School
Services Division Director Karen Bothun.

Inc.Partnership AwardDepartment for Technical
EducationCabinet for Workforce Development 2003
Central Office Awards Program

Mary Jo Morton, director of education for the
Associated Builders Contractors, Inc. accepts
the Partnership Award from Commissioner Emil S.
Jezik.
The objective of the award is to honor a
partnership that provides invaluable service to
the cabinet. ABC was nominated by DTE Program
Consultant Tommy Sutton. Other nominations
included Bluegrass State Skills Corp., Kenny
Carroll and DTE/DES Student Career Placement
Program - Paul Keibler, Dave Rigsby and Tony Nunn.

Deputy Commissioner Mary A. Stratton receives the
Leadership Award from Commissioner Emil S. Jezik
The objective of the Leadership Award is to
honor an individual who promotes the principles
of excellent leadership and quality in the
workplace. Deputy Commissioner Stratton was
nominated by Support Services Branch Manager Myra
Wilson and Public Awareness Branch Manager Fran
Dundon.

The Distinguished Service Award signifies a
career employee, with twenty years or more of
service, who has demonstrated exceptional
long-term dedication, job expertise and
meritorious service. The commissioner was
nominated by Public Awareness Branch Manager Fran
Dundon.
