- When you peek into a cooperative learning
classroom, the first thing you notice is the
seating arrangement - Students are seated in teams.

- Each teammate gets three sticks with a unique
color. Only you may touch your own sticks, but
your sticks can cross the sticks of teammates. - Each Member of the group must take a turn
recording the results.

his/her chip in the center of the table. - Students left with a chip continue the discussion
using his/her chip. - When all chips are used, teammates each collect
their chips and continue the discussion using

either celebrate or coach, and then celebrate.

- 1.The teacher selects one student on each team to
be the Showdown Captain for the first round. - 2. The Showdown Captain draws the top card, reads
the question, and provides think time. - 3. Working alone, all students, including the
Captain, write their answers. - 4. When finished, teammates signal theyre ready
by turning their papers over. - 5. The Showdown Captain calls, Showdown.
- 6. Teammates show and discuss their answers.
- 7. The Showdown Captain leads the checking.
- 8. If correct, the team celebrates if not
teammates tutor or coach, then celebrate. - 9.The person on the left of the Showdown Captain
becomes the Showdown Captain for the next round.

equations and justifying steps.

- Step 1. One student holds question cards in a fan
and says Pick a Card, any Card! - Step 2. The student that picks the card reads the
question aloud and allows 5 seconds of Think
Time. - Step 3. The third student answers the question.
- Step 4. The fourth student coaches and
paraphrases the answer of the third student.
