1Geography and how it affects the development of
the United States of America

2The Mississippi River
Mainly helpful for the development of the
Midwest, it helped truly nurtured the economic
growth of that area. An easy trade to the south,
where cattle from Texas cold be brought to the
slaughter houses north in Chicago (whoo-hoo
Chicago!!!).
3Bi-Coastal
Because the United States has two coasts it can
trade all around the world. Also, this gives way
to many types of fish and seafood that are unique
to both regions
4Mountains
Mountains effected the physical movement of
people, mainly the Sierra Nevada range in the
west. This made it difficult for people to travel
west in earlier days, but also later on added a
spark of adventure that made people want to go to
the west coast.
5The Great Lakes
Another geographical feature that only really
deals with the Midwest, the Great Lakes helped
with trade from the Midwest to Europe because of
the St. Lawrence River that runs from the lakes
to the Atlantic Ocean. The lakes also helped with
the settlement of the area because water is a
need, economically for trade and physically for
drinking.
6Dirt
Dont know if its a geographical feature but it
was critical to the development of the United
States of America. America has rich soil which
was crucial in the early years when everyone
farmed for their own food.
