Employees Criminal Background Check Procedures
In our opinion, the current system for detecting
and identifying the criminal histories of
individuals employed in public schools is flawed
and ineffective.

1. periodic background checks of all public
education employees 2. self-disclosure of all
public education employees to their employers
following an arrest 3. current employees hired
before 1994 who are working in public schools
have a criminal background check

1. Licensed Employees -Condition of
re-licensure -Responsibility of
USOE -Cost--person renewing license 2.
Non-Licensed Employees -Every 6
years -Responsibility of District -CostDistrict

time.

- Classified will receive notification from HR
and must be part of work/paid time.
8Self Reporting of Arrests
- All Employees must report to principal or
supervisor any matters involving arrests for - alleged sex offenses
- alleged drug-related offenses
- alleged alcohol-related offenses
- alleged offenses against the person.
- Within 48 hours.

All Employees must report to principal or
supervisor convictions, pleas in abeyance and
diversion agreements within 48 hours.
