Title: SCIENCE OF THE LAMB

SCIENCE OF THE LAMB!

Contents
  • Dissection
  • Finding the internal organs
  • Trying to discover the cause of the death
  • Warning some of these images are graphic look
    away if your squeamish!!

Dissection
  • The lamb died because of natural causes.
  • the lamb was very large
  • Dr brown cut out all of its organs and laid them
    out on a tray,
  • We then examined all of them to see if there was
    anything wrong with the organs,
  • organs were in working order apart from the
liver was slightly small for such a big lamb,
this also could have been another reason for its
death as it would have not been able to remove
all of the toxins out of its body.
  • After examining the internal organs, Dr Brown
opened the skull of the lamb to show us its
    brain, it was very slimy.

Dissection of the lamb
5
Inspecting the organs to discover cause of death
6
Results
  • From the dissection we discovered
  • The unusually dark colour of the brain could
indicate an abnormality, or brain injury that
could have lead to the death of the lamb.
  • The colour and fusion of the internal organs
showed that the lamb had died within 24hours of
    being born.
  • The liver, in size, was particularly small in
relation to the size of the lamb but otherwise
    were healthy before death.

7
Conclusion
  • We enjoyed watching the dissection of the lamb,
    and learnt that
  • A lamb has 4 stomachs, similar to a cow, but only
requires one before it starts feeding on grass
as the bacteria that breaks down cellulose is
    developed in the others.
  • The Spleen is vital for helping the body's immune
system, this can be easily damaged, and you can
    survive without it.
  • Aromatherapy candles do not
  • mask the smell of a lambs lung!

Another activity we enjoyed
  • Fantastic Plastic

9
  • During this lecture we became more aware of the
plastics around us, including more revolutionised
    items such as
  • Blood made from plastic, which anyone can use
    if needed!
  • Dissolvable laundry bags, which can help better
    hygiene in hospitals.
  • A new era for shopping, Wifi, fridges, watching
    tv, lights changing life altogether.
