The local project

• A parallel project same aims and objectives,
  same main output (open and collaborative
  hypertext on TIME), same length, same criteria
  for the school selection
• implementation since last Autumn
• teachers from schools of Livorno, Siena

The local project

• 2000-2001 teachers from 52 schools asked to take
  part - actual attendance about 40 schools
• October/March professional development focused
  on ICT (theoretical and educational issues rather
  than technical ones)
• three meetings for the whole group, three
  following-up workshops(local level, local tutors)

• Plenary meetings
• hypertext as technology and writing
• hypertext as learning environment
• hypertext as a peculiar means of knowledge
  development

• Local workshops
• (e-mail, forum) - browsing on the internet
  analyses and evaluation of educational websites
• identifying key-nodes and planning/drawing
  key-node maps (use of specific software
  Inspiration)
• discussing and identifying individual needs with
  regards to hypertext authoring

• (April/June) TIME
• an in-presence meeting for the whole group
• Internet memory, oblivion
• Time and everyday life (sociology)
• a distance table ronde (history, music,
  physics, mathematics, chemistry, sociology)

• (end of may) teachers choose the topics, classes,
  etc. for the next school year projects, leading
  to the class/school hypertexts
• thought we would have a reduction in
  participation
• 30 projects (30 schools), often involving more
  than one class in the same school

The local project III phase contents

• (sept./october) courses on html authoring (21
  hours) with local tutors
• (autumn) key - issues still to be dealt with ICT
  in primary education (i.e. focus on differences
  between ages of students) assessing and
  evaluating students learning when working with
  ICT and hypertexts.
