• The Western Center of the Ukrainian Branch of the
  World Laboratory (Worldlab) established in 1992
  is a non-governmental, non-profit organization
  with the goal of joining the efforts of Ukrainian
  and foreign scientists for solving the topical
  problems in the field of the environment
  protection, economics, education and engineering,
  including those under international projects.

• One of the Worldlab activity is cooperation with
  Baltic countries.
• Since 2004 Worldlab represents Ukraine in
  Coalition Clean Baltic (CCB).
• Worldlab has performed activities under the
  projects
• Membership Development Campaign and
  translation into Ukrainian and printing of the
  CCB booklet Guidelines for Using Urine and
  Blackwater Diversion Systems in Single-family
  homes (2005).
• Awareness raising of the role of public
  participation in surface waters pollution and
  Dissemination of the Baltic Sea basin countries
  experience on solution of sustainable wastewater
  treatment for rural areas of Ukraine (2006).

• Conservation of the Western Buh through forming
  econetwork of the Western Buh river ecological
  corridor and Sharing experience of the
  countries of Baltic Sea Basin on river pollution
  protection and sustainable wastewater treatment
  in Ukrainian villages (2007).
• Environmental impact of agriculture in the
  Western Bug river basin, Activization of public
  participation in the development of econetwork in
  the Zakhidnyi Buh river basin, Distribution in
  Ukraine of good practices on sustainable water
  usage of Baltic countries (2008).
• The project Information campaign and
  improvement of the garbage sites in Dashava small
  town was financially supported by the State
  Department of Nature Protection in Lviv oblast.

• Worldlab organizes trainings for students and
  pupils on the topics
• Assessment of the environmental situation,
• Environmental policy and environmental law,
• Environmental management,
• Development of strategy of sustainable
  development of rural areas,
• A basin approach to solving the environmental
  problems of rivers.
• Worldlab tightly cooperates with Lviv National
  Agrarian University and National University
  Lvivska Polytechnika.

Belarus and Poland

• We have experience of long-term cooperation
  with
• NGOs in the Baltic Sea basin (CCB, Polish
  Ecological Club, Belarus)
• high education establishments (Lviv National
  Agrarian University, National University "Lvivska
  Polytechnika")
• governmental bodies in the Western Ukraine
  (Oblast State Administration, local authority
  bodies and the State Department of Nature
  Protection).
• This will help us to promote the sustainable
  urban and rural development in the Ukrainian part
  of the Baltic Sea region by means of creation of
  the Training Center of Sustainable Development.

• The goals of the Training Center of
  Sustainable Development will be as follows
• Giving consultations, information and education
  assistance to local authority and NGOs on a)
  sustainable agriculture management and
  distribution of good agricultural practices
  b) use of renewable energy sources waste of
  forest and agriculture industry.
• Creation of the information base (exhibitions,
  libraries, web-site, publications on sustainable
  development)
• Creation of educational NGO network
• International cooperation in the Baltic Sea
  basin
• Creation of the school of volunteers, who will
  promote implementation of policy of sustainable
  development in urban and rural areas in Ukraine.
