Introduction

• The Ex is a non-profit organization
• A volunteer driven event
• Dedicated to showcasing talents, abilities, and
  achievements of the people in Manitoba through
  events
• Also provides all sorts of different activities
  and rides

Basic Information

• The Ex has been alive for 50 years
• Formed in 1952
• Has kept on coming back to Manitoba every June
  for a 10 day duration period
• 2002 Ex is its 50th anniversary

Basic Information

• First Location held at Osborne Stadium
• Near Manitoba Legislature Building
• Location didnt work out too well
• Ex Moved to Polo Park Race Track
• Soon became Polo Park Mall
• Ex moved again, a little bit over
• Near Winnipeg Stadium Arena
• Parking in that Area was too small
• Moved again, to the West Perimeter
• Near Assiniboia Downs Race Track
• Since then, Ex hasnt considered moving to a new
  location

• There is a lot of info you can find on the Exs
  home at West Perimeter
• Was purchased in 1987
• Didnt mover there until 1906
• Originally 218 acres
• 267 acres was added, total acres is now 480
• Construction began over Fall of 1996
• Ex opened its doors on June 19, 1997, was a big
  hit

• Several different varieties of farms at the Ex
• Farms include
• Weston's Petting Zoo
• The Red Barn
• The Toudi Farm
• The Safeway Farm Country
• The Horse Showcase
• There is a Farm Family of the Year award
• It is given to a family that owns a great farm in
  Manitoba
• Award is given to a different family each year

• Scholarships also play a major part at the Ex
• In 1996, scholarship fund made scholarships at
  the Ex
• To establish a legacy for the the Association's
  commitment to assist individuals in their pursuit
  of further education
• First scholarship awards assisted individuals
  pursuing a career in trades within the Aerospace
  industry
• Tourism Industry Association of Winnipeg made
  first annual scholarship award to an individual
  following a career in the tourism sector

• There is a new scholarship recognizing the old
  farm family of the year award
• New scholarship will be introduced in 2002
• Farm Family of the Year award will be given to a
  student currently enrolled in agriculture studies

• Most popular attraction and reason people visit
  the Ex is the rides
• Rides come and go every year
• Rides that stay, stay because of the popularity
• Only ride that has been existence for more than
  30 years is the Giant Wheel
• Rides are put into different lands along with the
  games and activities at the Ex
• Lands
• Kiddie Land (For Children)
• Main Land (For The Older Type)
• Family Land (For The Whole Family)
• Most favorite land is Main Land
• Rides for teens and adults

Conclusion

• The Ex has still maintained what it was set out
  to do 50 years ago
• Still exhibition whos mission was to enhance
  lives of Manitobans
• Also to challenge them to achieve their potential
