Title: 2010_Oct_22_Confidence Building in the Context of Communication Skills
1Confidence Buildingin the context of
Communication Skillspresented byProf. V.
Viswanadham
2we are social beings. People can not live
without each other. As soon as we are in
contact with others we are communicating. We
make use of spoken and written language And
also BODY LANGUAGE.
3Self-Confidence is evident through body
language and speech.
4The content of a spoken message needs to be
interpreted with the help of Body language,
and Tonality of voice.
5It would be good to become conscious of both
our own and others' body language
6confidence is needed to grow as a person and
achieve something in your life.
7Confidence in one's self is something that
everyone needs. Confidence helps you to be
happy and hopefully quite successful.
8Confidence is needed to communicate your needs
and feelings in an effective way. Unless we
know how to communicate, we cant hope to get
what we want out of life.
9Just as many activities can be learned, you must
pay attention, learn seriously, and practice
continuously to improve your confidence
levels in communicating effectively.
10Confidence improves when You begin to feel
good about yourself which means being happy
with your inside your positive attitude and
your moods and your outside appearance.
11Dressing neatly and nicely can build your self
confidence, because when you look good you
will feel good.
12Your posture also plays an important role in how
you feel about yourself. The way you walk,
talk, look and look up, will make a big
difference, and cause a boost to your
self-confidence.
13Your language, whether it is self-talk, or, when
you are talking to others also plays an
important role in how you feel about yourself.
14Your past experiences and more particularly, what
you have done, and what you are doing now,
combine powerfully to play an important role in
how you feel about yourself.
15One major contributor to one's confidence levels
is the experiences and events that have
happened in the past. More importantly, what
you are willing to learn. Please note that there
are no failures, just outcomes.
16To boost your confidence levels dont brood
over the past. LEARN THE LESSONS and Learn to
Live in the Present for the sake of the Future.
17Have you ever listed Your STRENGTHS ? Too many
people emphasise their weaknesses rather than
their strengths. They program themselves
negatively to expect failure rather than
positively to expect success.
18Do you PROCRASTINATE ? Terror of Failure ? Fear
of Success ? Then, you are postponing the
opportunity to Boost your confidence levels.
19Work on your existing skill level. Have a
schedule, start noting down your ideas, and more
importantly, noting down your practice, progress,
and review. Keeping track, improves your
skill, and also your confidence.
20Work on your existing attitude. Review your
attitude, start improving your attitude, and more
importantly, feel positively capable of improving
Adopt I can do it attitude.
21Confidence Awareness Exercise What are your

23Confidence Building Steps 2. As confidence
improves with action, motivate yourself to have
a goal, to improve and then plan
for improvement. Now, identify much smaller,
measurable and achievable goals which will
contribute, even if only in a small way,
towards the vision of a self confident you.
24Confidence Building Steps 3. Make a note in
your Self Confidence Success Log when you
achieve it then analyze the contributing
factors, and reward yourself for the
success, to serve the purpose of reinforcement.
