Title: Designing and Building a Field Programmable Gate Array System Using Systems Engineering Best Practic

1
Designing and Building a Field Programmable Gate
Array System Using Systems Engineering Best
Practices
  • Proposal Phase 10-19-06
  • Team Leader Lennart E. Long
  • Course ECE 994

2
Project Definition
  • Summary of Project - ECE994 course work would
involve the class designing and building a Field
Programmable Gate Array using a Xilinx test bed
as well as MATLAB and SIMULINK software. This
will be the first step in a systems engineering
process to engineer a working node matrix of mine
    sensors.

  • Diagram

5
Project Specifications
  • Scope
  •
  • Design and experiment with an FPGA breadboard
  • Goal is to network at least two Xilinx
    development systems.
  • Project leader proposal is to take the systems
    approach for this project.
  • Class will use the principles of rapid prototyping

6
Project Specifications
  • Project Leader Role
  • Solicit a brief progress report each week from
    each student
  • Edit progress reports and submit them to
Professor Rucinski, which has the following
    elements
  • Accomplishments during the last week
  • Future Activities during the next reporting
    period
  • Problems and Issues.
  • Professor Rucinski may use this report to guide
us in our project and as a basis for a future
    Homeland Security course.
