New ADCNR Facilities

• The ADCNR-State Lands Division is now located at
  the 5 River Delta Center in Spanish Fort.
• The facility, which is run by the Lands Division,
  also has a power boat landing, a canoe kayak
  landing, trails, an exhibit hall, a theater, a
  gift shop and classrooms.
• We have held numerous meetings at the facility,
  including two GoMA meetings, a No Adverse Impact
  workshop and the USACE National RSM meeting.

ACAMP Strategic Plan

• The ADCNR contracted with the South Alabama
  Planning Commission to develop a 5 year Strategic
  Plan.
• Input was obtained from ADEM during 2 meetings
  and during review of the draft Plan.
• The Plan is intended to guide ACAMP activities
  during the next 5 years.
• The Plan is not a program change nor does it
  modify the NOAA approved program document.

Ongoing Issues

• Rapid Population Growth
• New Industries
• New Steel Mill in a Currently Rural Area 2500
  jobs
• Possible Air Tanker Factory in Mobile 1500 jobs
• Housing, Schools, Shopping??????
• Nutrient Loading HABs New research indicates
  increases in both.
• Drought
• Water War with Atlanta Going to the Courts?
• Can Groundwater Supply Hold up in Baldwin County?

ADCNR ADEM Staff Changes

• ADCNR-Coastal Section recently added a new
  Natural Resource Planner, Kelly Brinkman.
• ADEM has experience significant staff turnover in
  the Coastal Section and is in the process of
  training at least 2 new staff members.
