LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR THIS LESSON
  • Outline the key stages and processes involved in
    a recruitment process.
  • Understand why McDonalds places high emphasis on
its people and the recruitment process.
  • Know that McDonalds is committed to training its
    employees.

3
INTRODUCTION
  • McDonald's employs on a large scale.
  • The reputation of any business ultimately depends
on the quality of its products.
  • High quality products need high quality people to
create, design, produce and deliver them.
  • For any business an ability to recruit, train and
retain high quality staff is particularly vital.

4
RECRUITMENT
  • Under McDonald's each individual restaurant is
    responsible for filling hourly-paid positions.
  • The manager selects applicants to interview.
  • The applicant then attends a first stage
interview and is offered "On Job Experience"
(OJE). This is a 2-day assessment in a
    restaurant.
  • Successful completion at OJE will lead to a final
interview, after which the manager decides
whether or not to hire the applicant

5
TRAINING
  • McDonald's provides a full training programme
    which includes
  • The Welcome Meeting.
  • A development programme.
  • Ongoing training. This goes towards an appraisal
    grade.

6
  • The Management Development Curriculum is aimed at
people over 21 who have degrees or some
management background. There are four key
    programmes
  • Running a shift.
  • Running systems.
  • Being a restaurant leader. Team building,
    communication, and decision making.
  • Being a business leader.
  • Managers can also have the chance to work in the
    regional office.

7
CONCLUSION
  • McDonald's believes that the success of the
Company and the restaurants hinges on the people
    it employs.
  • It is therefore careful to recruit and train the
    best.
