Background and Motivation
  • Innovation based on new technologies and
    knowledge is widely recognised as one of the key
    drivers for economic growth and prosperity
  • There is agreement that Europe has a huge
    innovation potential but obviously there is a
    need to increase efficiency and effectiveness of
    the research to market cycle
  • To move the European Innovation Agenda forward
    there is need for an enhanced dialogue at various
    levels

Need for action
  • Improving Europes innovation performance
    requires
  • A joint effort from stakeholders and policy
    makers at all levels and across borders
  • An enhanced dialogue closing the gap between
    policy goals and market reality
  • A permanent European Innovation Dialogue that
    addresses shortcomings in the innovation
    processand helps unfolding of invention into
    the economy

Vision
  • The European Innovation Dialogue aims to become a
    major contributor to accelerating the successful
    exploitation and commercial use of knowledge
    assets in Europe
  • The European Innovation Dialogue will address
    issues relevant to technology innovators at
    various levels, local, regional, national and EU
    by initiating and facilitating a dialogue
  • Between EU policy makers and innovation
    practitioners
  • Among innovation actors from across Europe
  • Between large corporations and small and medium
    sized companies

  • Getting the right policy environment by
  • Adapting legislation affecting innovation i.e.
    state aid, taxation, public procurement
  • Improving access to and information on patents
    securing the protection of investment in
    innovation
  • Reviewing SME policy
  • Optimising access to finance through
  • Applying enhanced financial engineering
    mechanisms
  • Improving availability of equity financing at
    various stages
  • Establishing structures that facilitate cross
    border funding for private investors
  • Improving the innovation process by sharing best
    practices on e.g.
  • Science park concepts
  • Proof of the technological concept
  • Developing and valorising managerial talent

Implementation objectives

    recognised as independent and inclusive
