Title: Does School Uniform Change Different Aged Childrens Behavior
1Does School Uniform Change Different Aged
Childrens Behavior?
2Why I did this research
- I wanted to find out what effects school uniform
gives to different aged children in their daily
school life. Does wearing school uniform change
the way a childs attitude and behavior currently
is? I also wanted to find out whether children
prefer school uniform or not. I wondered whether
wearing clothing of their own choice would make
any difference to children at school.
3How I did my research
- To find out the answer to my research question, I
sent out a questionnaire. I did this to find out
how children of different ages felt about school
uniform, changing the design of it or even
removing it. I sent out my questionnaire to
children in Year 4 aged around 9 in Oxley Park
Primary School and children in year 8 aged around
13 in Hazely School to get a good comparison
between to ages.
4What I found out Question 1
The degree of Agreement is the way the children
marked their answer in my questionnaire. It is
scale of 1 to 10. 1 is strongly disagree, 10
means strongly agree, and 5 means in the middle.
The number of children represent the amount of
children who chose the number in the scale. The
results to this question show that most year 8
children dont like wearing school uniform
whereas most year 4 children say they do.
5Question 2
On question 2 most year 4 and year 8 children
agree that school uniform should be comfortable.
6Question 3
On this question, most year 4 and year 8 children
agree that school uniform should be designed by
children. Quite a few year 4 and year 8 children
also disagree with school uniform being designed
by children.
7Question 4
On question 4 most year 4 children agree that
teachers should where school uniform but on the
other hand most year 8 children disagree with
wearing school uniform.
8Question 5
On this question most year 4 children agree that
school uniform should be comfortable but most
year 8 children rated number 5 on the scale of 1
to 10.
9Question 6
On question 6 most year 4 children disagree that
school ties should be banned whereas most year 8
children rated 5 on the scale again.
10Question 7
Most year 4 and year 8 children disagree with
school blazers being banned.
11Question 8
On this question most year 4 and year 8 children
disagree that school uniform should be worn
everyday.
12Question 9
Most year 4 and 8 children on this question
disagree with school uniform being worn on all
school trips. But quite a few year 4 children
also disagreed.
13Question 10
Most year 4 and year 8 disagree that they work
best when wearing school uniform.
14Question 11
Most year 4 and year 8 children agree that they
work more creatively in their own clothes.

harder when wearing school uniform whereas most
year 8 children marked 5 on the scale.
16Question 13

cant wait to get their school uniform off when
they get home.
17Question 14
Most year 4 and year 8 children disagree that
they love their uniform so much they wear it at
the weekends.
18Question 15
Most year 8 children think that children should
start wearing school uniform at the age of 15 and
most year 4 children think that children should
start wearing school uniform at the age of 5.
19Question 16
Most year 4 and year 8 children agree that they
should not have to wear school uniform at all.
20Question 17
Most year 4 and year 8 children strongly agree
that they feel more confident in their own
clothes.
21Conclusions
- After I received my results from the two year
groups, I analyzed the data I received and came
to a conclusion. The data that I have, proves
that most year 4 children think that school
uniform is not too bad but would like to make a
few changes to it but on the other hand, most
year 8 children do not like school uniform much
at all.
