• Enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1994. Graduated
  from the Naval Academy in 2001
• Operated out of MCBH Kaneohe Bay while flying in
  VP-9

Time Management

• Why should you care?
• Because . . .
• It will develop a skill you will use in the
  fleet.
• It will help you get better grades.
• It will allow you to budget time for the things
  you want to do.

Semester planning

• Get a monthly calendar. Tear out the Fall
  semester months and tape them to the wall in your
  room.
• Make a note of when your major tests are and when
  major assignments are due (term papers, projects)
• List these tests and assignments on a separate
  sheet of paper.

  their appropriate weeks
• Then, organize your tasks so that you can
  complete these assignments.

• Summer Training Periods
• 1st Class Summer Training (Division Officer)
• Similar to 2nd Class cruise, except you wear
  khakis
• Marine Options will attend Bulldog training (in
  Quantico, VA) instead.
• Nurse Corps go to the Naval Hospital
• You may request to go on an Aviation, Spec
  Warfare or Foreign Exchange cruise.

Four-Year NROTC Scholarship

• Students are sworn in as Midshipmen, USNR
• Navy pays full tuition, required fees, and
  provides textbooks uniforms
• 250/300/350/400/month stipend
• Minimum 4-year active duty requirement upon
  commissioning

Two-year NROTC Scholarship

• Students with at least 2 years remaining are
  eligible
• Must attend the Naval Science Institute (NSI) in
  Newport, RI over the summer
• Same privileges and requirements as for 4-year
  scholarship

NETC-Controlled Scholarship

• Students in the College Program can earn a
  scholarship if selected by NETC.
• Must complete at least one semester in the NROTC
  unit.

• The Performance Review Board
• Purpose
• To address a substandard academic and/or
  professional performance
• Organization
• Chaired by the XO
• Typically two unit staff members (LT)
• Representative from Dean of Students (sometimes)

Physical Fitness Requirements

• The Navy Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA)
• Push-Ups and Sit-Ups (2 minutes)
• Run (1 1/2 miles), or Swim (500 yards)
• BCA- Body Composition (height/weight)
• Minimum standards depend on your age, gender
• Remedial

• Swim Qualifications
• You must qualify as 3rd class swimmer by the
  beginning of your sophomore year
• 1st class swim qualification is highest
• (Must be 1st class qualified if you want to fly
  jets during CORTRAMID)

• If you control your body fat, you will
• perform better on the PRT
• look good in your uniform
• feel better about yourself
• If you exceed standards, you will NOT be allowed
  to become a 3/C midshipman.

• CHEAT
• OR STEAL
• Why?
• Military organizations MUST be based on absolute
  trust. Otherwise, lives could be lost!
• Take these principles to the fleet!
