Reduced Fuel Sloshing
You see the liquid in the left chamber almost
frozen,
whereas the liquid in the right chamber is
sloshing unhindered!

eXess? and fuel-foam(gasoline)
Whereas, without eXess?, gasoline can foam
unhindered, during refuelling process,
with eXess?, foam formation is almost stopt.
In comparison it is obvious, that, also
evaporation will be reduced with eXess?, during
refuelling.

eXess? and fuel-foam (diesel)
Without eXess diesel appears almost milky
during refuelling process.
In the observed situation, it needs about 30
sec., that the diesel becomes clear and up to 2
min. until all foam will be destroyed.

Increased fuel capacity
Refuelling tests with a plastic tank, designed
for ORVR (liquid sealing), showed following
results
The tank equipped with eXess? could be filled
with almost 1 more fuel.

Reduced pressure at start of refilling
Pressure peaks at the beginning of the refuelling
process can leed to an unwelcome shut-off of the
nozzle.

Reduction of HC-Emission
  • Reduction of HC-Emission due to reduced fuel
movement during and after Vehicle motion
  • 8 reduction of HC-Emission for ORVR fuel systems
    due to eXess? during refuelling

Reduction of HC-Emission due to fuel
stabilization
Simultane shaking of both cans showed 25 mbar
without and 2.5 mbar with eXess?.
Lower pressure would leed to lower emission!

SHED Tests with eXess?
Metallic gas-can (open filler neck) positioned in
a heatable SHED-chamber on a shaking
table. During the test temperature increased from
about 21.5C to about 23.5C, pressure was
constant with 975mbar.

SHED Tests with eXess?
HC-Emission reduction from 298.8 ppmV to 103.9
ppmV.
This means for 65.

Refuelling Tests with eXess?
Refuelling tests with a plastic tank, designed
for ORVR (liquid sealing), showed following
results
The tank equipped with eXess? could be filled
with almost 1 more fuel, whereas the amount of
HC, which had to be adsorbed by the carbon
filter, could be reduced by almost 8.

Improved Active Safety
  • Improved driving stability due to reduced fuel
    movement within the tank

25
Improved Active Safety
A U-shaped tube, limb-length 1m each, was filled
with water up to its half. One limb was closed
with a seal cap through which the liquid column
could be moved to the other limb with compressed
air. After a sudden opening of the cap a liquid
oscillating started.

26
Improved Active Safety
Supplying the lower part of the U-tube, with
eXess? the liquid motion stopped after 7 seconds,
almost without oscillation, whereas without
eXess? oscillation continued for over 1 minute.

28
Improved Passive Safety
  • Reduced internal fuel pressure peak in case of
    sudden impact on tank
  • Reduced fuel spray and fuel loss in case of
  • tank leakage
  • tank rupture
  • connection-brake between tank and filling unit

29
Reduced Pressure Peaks
Pressure peaks caused by sudden impacts could be
reduced up to 50.
It is obvious, that lower internal pressure would
leed to reduced fuel spray in case of any leakage.

Reduction of Danger due to Fire
  • General Explosion Protection
  • Heavily reduced access of oxygen and therefore
strongly reduced flames due to eXess?
  • Reduced smoke developement in case of fire in
    tank (tunnel)
  • Easier fire extinguishing

32
General Explosion Protection
The lower and upper explosion limits (Exu and
Exo) describe the concentration area of the
gaseous fuel in mixture with air within which a
continuously ongoing reaction can be started by
an ignition source.
Investigations of accepted institutes (TUEV
Vienna, Industrial Technology Research Institute
Taiwan) with 20 and 400 liters explosion
containers showed that the upper explosion limit
can be reduced so far, by the installation of
eXess, (depending on the installed eXess -
volume) that an explosion is prevented by heat
absorption.

35
Heavily reduced access of oxygen and therefore
strongly reduced flames
Because of heat absorption and reduction of the
oxygenation only a small flame is formed
evaporation and burning of volatile components
are controlled by eXess, in contrast to the high
temperatures and high, sooty fire in the other
case.

37
Reduced smoke developement
During the whole burning period the control
vessel showed fire with high, blazing flames,
attended by great heat and dark clouds of smoke,
whereas with eXess? small and quiet flames
without any smoke and heat burned.

39
Easier fire extinguishing
After a burning period of 2 minutes the
eXess?-fire could be extinguished with pure
water, whereas for the control vessel foam was
needed notice that the firemen had to stay far
away from the fire, because of the great heat.

Conclusion
  • If eXess? is installed in car tanks, due to its
benefits,it would leed to many advantages for
  • car passangers
  • environment and
  • in case of accidents also to rescue teams.

If this would be recogniced by at least one car
manufacturer, eXess will become standard!
