agreements offer
  • Focus, direction and support to gain professional
    recognition, they do this by
  • Forging closer working relationships to promote
    development,
  • Develop a LD plan to demonstrate knowledge gain
    against set objectives,
  • Defines when objectives have been achieved,
  • Aids formal sign off which feeds into the
    application process with the Institution ECUK

What are the requirements for candidates to gain
Recognition?
  • Level of academic achievement
  • Recognised by peers that they are capable and
    competent
  • Can satisfy set criteria defined by ECUK and
    their chosen Institution
  • Complete an application process
  • Invited to interview, and able to demonstrate
    that they are capable competent in line with
    defined objectives

Why use a learning development / training
agreements?
  • You dont need too!!! ..but,
  • So.. work with colleagues who are known by the
    institution
  • Its easier to work with someone who can impart
    their knowledge / experience (Mentor)
  • Can their managers offer the variety of work
    experience to complete the defined objectives
    (Supervisor)
  • If so, a structure can be built around this to
    promote LD, this forms the basis of a Training
    Agreement.
  • Large companies across the UK have developed
    schemes as part of their Graduate Development.

  • For Company accredited schemes, the key players
    are
  • The candidate must always take the lead
  • A workplace colleague, who has the knowledge
    experience to Mentor them
  • A supportive boss.. Who recognises the benefits
    of training staff to gain greater competency to
    extend the individuals capabilities (Supervisor)

What do they do?
  • Candidate
  • They do it all. they MUST have the drive and
    enthusiasm to develop THEIR career. .. with the
    support of others.
  • They must own their professional development
  • Undertake an initial appraisal of their current
    competencies outline areas of development.
  • Work co-operatively with others to effectively
    plan their development
  • Set objectives, work through them and continually
    review
  • Complete Objective Achieved Reports, inline with
    agreed plan
  • Submit annual reports to CIBSE TD Panel
  • Apply for professional advancement when you are
    ready.

  • Understand the process for professional

  • Be committed to support and develop junior
    members of staff
  • Be committed to devote reasonable time at regular
    intervals to develop others
  • Have the ability patience to give new learning
    experience to others by being supportive
  • Challenge and impart knowledge
  • Work with the training agreement to develop
    others
  • Review sign off as appropriate

  • The Candidates Workplace Supervisor must
  • Be supportive of the mentor and candidate
  • Be committed to LD of all staff
  • Offer opportunities for personal development
  • Promote professional career development
  • The senior management should look to link all of
    this into the business needs, tie up with the
    annual appraisals etc. which should offer the
    business new capabilities / opportunities for the
    business etc.

    assists them as required,

    help define next years objectives,
  • Acts as external support, to act as independent
    reviewer,
  • SUPPORTS information flow to CIBSE TD Panel
