History

• April 5-7 first coordination meeting at Argonne
  National Lab
• June 18-19 second coordination meeting in Lecce
  (EuroGlobus)

Joint activities have value for both

• Include U.S. sites in the production prototype
  system (at least ANL and ISI)
• Accelerate development of packaging and certain
  other Globus elements, to ensure that they are
  available for use by EDG group.
• Attempt to transfer some EDG technology (e.g.,
  dynamic accounts, resource broker) to U.S., for
  use in say GriPhyN experiments.

Specific Globus Tasks

• MDS-2 (have alpha on Friday 13th April) GRIS
  performance, Index plug in, etc.
• GridFTP (have alpha already)
• GRAM job manager fix
• All this handled via packaging
• Replica management (alpha integration with GDMP)
• Define U.S. nodes to integrate into tests
• Prototype community authorization server (CAS)

• Group server
• EDG-specific data providers (GRISs)
• Dynamic accounts (collaboration on requirements)
• Scheduler

• MDS-2.1 A2 Indexes hack done, new GIIS in Sept.
• Initial repackaged release (Globus 2.0A)
  packages are mostly done, rest will be tar-ball
  (Globus priority 7/01)

• MDS security currently uses gridmap files,
  probably insufficient will use static
  mechanisms in OpenLDAP (works now)
• MDS repackaging July 10
• Group CAS rough demo for SC01, system for
  release, early 2002
