Legislative/Policy Recap

• Tax on Direct Broadband Services
• Continued to lead our coalition of satellite
  television providers
• Defeated AB 1016, a bill to impose such a tax
• Representing coalition at weekly meetings of the
  Assembly Utility and Commerce Committee as they
  discuss a comprehensive reform bill regarding the
  tax and fee structure for all communications
  systems operating in the state
• Tax on Direct Broadband Services
• Working with local law enforcement agencies, CSA
  successfully passed legislation (SB 619 and SB
  963) to authorize the use of global positing
  system technology as a monitoring device to
  supervise persons on home detention, probation
  and parole

• Fast Track Teacher Credentialing
• To address the issue of Californias aging
  engineering and high skilled workforce, CSA
  worked with education community to designed a
  fast track teacher credentialing program for
  persons who have achieved prominence in a field
  of endeavor (SB 404)
• In spite of veto by Governor, CSA is working with
  education community to develop similar goal under
  existing law
• BRAC Support
• Sponsored legislation to assist military families
  transfer their children from lower to better
  performing schools (AB 208)
• Incentives
• Advocated funding for Employment Training Panel
• Sought Space Enterprise Competitive Grant Program
  funding
• Supported Manufacturers Investment Tax Credit
  reauthorization
• Requested an expansion of the spaceflight tax
  exemption
