Need for Study
4
Target Groups
  • Policy makers
  • Irrigation scheme managers
  • Canals operators
  • Farmers
  • Students

5
Objectives
  • The development of a training tool by simulating
different technical and institutional aspects of
    agricultural water resources management.
  • Design, coding, and testing of a software
application in the form of a game with scored
    results and suggested recommendations for
    improved scores.

6
Scope of work
  • Three forms of the software
  • Different languages (English, Arabic)
  • Different scenarios of
  • Water resources
  • Climatic conditions
  • Delivery methods and regimes
  • On-farm irrigation methods
  • Random events
  • Results simulation and scoring

7
Players Objectives
  • Maximize profit
  • Maximize yield
  • Maximize water use efficiency
  • Increase conveyance system efficiency minimize
    conveyance water losses
  • Efficient management of available water resources
  • Reserve fresh water for coming generation
  • Protect environment

Conclusion
  • Through intelligent and heuristic simulation
tools in the form of a game in which the effect
of decisions can be seen, a great deal of
understanding of the parameter and variable
interrelationships for a variety of situations
can be attained in a much shorter time than it
would take (many years) by field experience
alone. This understanding can lead directly to
improvements in delivery system operation, design
of delivery systems, and on-farm water management.

  • Trials and errors are where most humans got their
accumulated experience from. We dont have
further time to build up new experiences and we
do not want to reach the irreversible point to be
convinced that it is the time to change
