Carmela Lopez
  • My experience at the Canutillo High School was
    good, I had a lot of fun. I was in the Spanish
    club, I was also in quire. When I was in high
    school we all used the same building 1-12 grade
    and we hade only 3 buses.
  • I played basketball in Canutillo Middle School.
  • I have been teaching for 19 years, this is my
    20th year. My better classes were 2nd 3rd. I also
    used to teach 2nd grade GT. I wish that kids
    would take school more seriously, school can be a
    lot of fun too. I love being a teacher, I like
    it when kids that I had a long long time ago
    still remember me.
  • My childhood was good, I was born in 2nd street
    in Canutillo. When I lived in Canutillo everybody
    knew each other because Canutillo was so small.
  • My hobbies are reading, I love to read detective
    novels and science is my favorite subject. I
    also like to walk my dog Maurise and I love to
    cook.

Margarita Villalobos
  • My Canutillo High School experience was
    Excellent! It was a lot of fun. I played
    volleyball, basketball, and I was the baseball
    sweetheart. 7th and 8th grade were my best years.
    I was an honor student every year and was a
    member of the Honor Society. I graduated in 1981.
  • I have been working for 2 years with the this
    district.
  • I feel that working with this district has many
    advantages because I work with kids. My 3 kids
    attend the schools in this district.
  • My childhood was very simple. I attended all
    grades in this school district.

My hobbies are Motorcycle riding and I am a NFL
fan.

Veronica Martinez
  • My experience at Canutillo High School was
    great! I loved being with my friends and I loved
    my teachers.
  • I am currently working at Deanna Davenport
    Elementary. I am a Special Education Aide. I have
    been with the district for 2 years. It has been
    challenging because I work with students that
    have disabilities but at the same time I learn
    from this population.
  • My childhood was pretty good. I had lots of
    friends from Canutillo Elementary, Canutillo
    Middle School, and Canutillo High School.
  • My hobbies are listening to music, reading books,
    and watching movies.

Marta Stroback
  • Marta Stroback it is good to work with other
    teachers in the campus.
  • Mrs. Stroback has taught special Ed, 5th, 3rd,
    2nd, and adult education. Mrs. Stroback taught
    also at Canutillo High School, she so said it was
    a rewarding experience.
  • In school her favorite subjects were reading
    because its a treasure to know how to read and
    write because it was a way to express yourself.
  • She wanted to become a teacher because she wanted
    to help students. She first wanted to teach
    Special Ed because she wanted to be a part of
    helping the kids that are challenged.
  • She thinks its an honor to work in the district
    and calls all her students family
  • Mrs. Stroback has three children.

Cynthia Enriquez
  • Cynthia Enriquez has been a teacher for 23 years
    it is has been a great experience. Everybody has
    to achieve an experience like this one.
  • In 1985 she taught 2nd, in 1986 she taught 3rd
    for 5 years and also 4th and 5th.
  • Everybody knew everybody at CHS Mrs. Enriquez
    said.
  • She had a great experience at CHS .
  • She did not want to become a teacher but happy
    she now is.
  • She has a husband that is in the army and has one
    son.
  • CHS has produced many good students

Ana Merritt
  • Being a teacher has been very rewarding to me
    because of being able to instill in some of my
    students the desire to learn and continue their
    education.I have taught Pre-Kindergarten,
    Kindergarten, First Grade and Third Grade. All 
    grade levels have been a learning experience for
    me. I feel that throughout these years of
    teaching I have learned as much from my students
    as they have learned from me in many different
    ways.
  • I never had the opportunity of being a student in
    this district, but I have been part of this
    community for a long time because before I
    started teaching for the Canutillo District, I
    was a student teacher here and the University of
    Texas of El Paso sent me to  field experiences
    several times.
  • I love to be around people, especially children.
    It is very exciting to be able to bring new
    knowledge and different strategies of learning to
    my students every day.   I am married. My
    husband's name is Kenneth Merritt and he works
    for the City of El Paso.  I have 1 daughter. Her
    name is Mariana Aun and she is studying at the
    University of Texas of El Paso. Her major is
    Music Performance. I think that she is a very
    talented musician.
  • I am very grateful to the Canutillo Independent
    School District for having given me the
    opportunity to teach all of these years.  I am
    very grateful in having had the experience to
    send many of my students on to a brighter future

Estela Guillen
  • Mrs. Guillen says that her freshmen year was her
    best high school year. In her senior year she
    started to help in the office half a day, it was
    called office courtesy . She started at CHS
    getting experience to become a great secretary.
    She graduated in class of 1990.
  • She has worked in human resources, as a district
    receptionist, attendance clerk , and a substitute
    coordinator for 16 years. She has enjoyed it,
    there is a lot to learn, and she likes being with
    the kids, it is very rewarding.
  • She came from Mexico in 6th grade and she did not
    now how to speak English because her first
    language is Spanish. She had to push herself
    because she had to learn English.
  • Mrs. Guillens hobbies are journalism, having fun
    with her children and likes serving her
    community.
  • She says that Canutillo Eagles are the best in
    the west.
  • Mrs. Guillen advises never give up, you can
    always reach your dreams.

Christen Garcia
  • Mrs. Garcia says that her high school year was a
    great learning experience. She participated in
    many school activities like valley ball, basket
    ball, and track. She graduated in 1980.
  • She worked at Thomason hospital in 1986 She came
    to work for the school in 1990. She loves working
    with children.
  • She grew up in West Way, she played a lot with
    neighborhood children.
  • Her hobbies are scrap booking, spending time with
    her family, and watching sport activities. She
    also likes watching movies.
  • ! Class of 80 is the Best !

Rosa Santillano
  • Mrs. Santillano said that she loved Canutillo
    High School and that she wished she could go
    back.
  • She played basketball because she used to love
    playing sports.
  • Her childhood was good. She was always a good
    little girl, she was very calm.
  • She has been a lunch lady for 11 years. She is
    the assistant manager at DDE. She loves her job
    because she likes cooking for the kids and
    talking to the little kids.
  • Her hobbies are sowing, going to the gym, and
    likes dancing.
  • Mrs. Santillano is very proud of her school
    Canutillo. ! I love being an Eagle !

Barbara Barren
  • Barbara Beran thinks that being a teacher is
    wonderful. She has two brothers and one sister.
    Her father had passed away.
  • She enjoys working and teaching with children.
    Mrs. Barren has taught kinder,1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th,
    5th, and 6th .
  • In school her favorite subject was Social Studies
    because she wanted to learn more about the past
    and how people lived back then.
  • She wanted to become a teacher because she wanted
    to help young people.

Guadalupe Ostos
  • Guadalupe Ostos was born in Canutillo in 1955.
  • She says she has had some good years and bad
    years as a teacher. She has taught 5th, 6th,
    4th, 3rd and 2nd.
  • As a teacher at Canutillo High School she saw
    good colleagues that helped each other. As a
    student at CHS it was a good experience because
    she had friends and good grades.
  • Her favorite subjects in high school were art
    because she enjoyed drawing. She also enjoyed
    music because she loved to dance. Social Studies
    was another favorite because she liked learning
    about Florida, Hawaii, and California which were
    the places she once lived.
  • She graduated high school in 1974. She first
    wanted to become a nurse but changed her mind and
    became a teacher because she thought the best way
    of help people was to help them learn.

Cilia Sanchez
  • Cilia Sanchez enjoys working with kids and has
    been teaching for 24 years. She has taught
    kinder, pre-kinder, 1st, and 4th.
  • Celia went to Diana Davenport Elementary when
    shes was a kid.
  • She had a good experience at high school and had
    a lot of friends. In school her favorite subjects
    in school were language arts and reading because
    she loves to read.
  • She wanted to be a teacher because she liked
    working with kids and loves seeing their
    expressions on their faces when they learn
    something new.
  • Mrs. Sanchez is married and has two sons, one is
    13 and the other one is 17.
