Tony CHIU Case-Based Reasoning
Caspian Case-Based Expert System Case-Based
reasoning solves a new problem by remembering a
previous similar situation and reusing the
information and knowledge gained from that
situation. CBR attempts to store previous
experience (cases) in memory and solves new
problems by retrieve similar experience about
similar situations from the memory. reuse the
experience in the context of the new situation
complete or partial reuse, or adapt according to
differences. store new experience in memory
(learning). The XPS expert system is provided
with a basic template of a case position and
height of peaks (positive and negative going
peaks), width of the peaks, details of potential
contaminants and so forth together with the
inferences. The user can use these pre-stored
cases for interpreting his or her spectra.
