Commander, Naval Test Wing Atlantic
Mission Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL) provide
aircrew and aircraft assets operational,
maintenance, fiscal and safety oversight and
facility support to conduct research,
development, test and evaluation (RDTE) of
manned and unmanned fixed and rotary wing
aircraft and train test pilots, test Naval Flight
Officers, and flight test engineers in order to
support the Naval Aviation and others as
directed. Command Relationship Higher
Headquarters NAWCAD, Patuxent River,
MD Subordinate Commands VX-20, HX-21, VX-23,
USNTPS ADCON FRC Mid-Atlantic Site Pax River
Operations NTWL, a cross competency command, is
a tenant on NAS Patuxent River, MD and Webster
Field, MD and is responsible for 9 hangars, an
array of 157 buildings, and a catapult and
arresting gear facility from which it conducts
its operations. Aircraft 130 aircraft of 45
T/M/S and 103 UAVs. Budget 170M
(FY08). Interfaces CNO (N4, N8), CNAF, USMC,
PEO, PMA, PMS, NTWP.
