  • Popular venue with both Indigenous and

  • Venue divided into three sections
  • Counted attendance at machines
  • Participant Observation
  • Semi-structured ethnographic interviews
  • Used similar methodology to Footes 1996 study of
    Darwin Casino

    machines
  • Remote Indigenous people make up 81 of
    Indigenous population NT (27 of total NT
    population) (ABS)

    Indigenous attendance at machines (9.5 of
    attendance at machines)
