About Visa 864

• This visa allows aged parents to remain in
  Australia permanently with their children who are
  living in Australia. This visa requires that you
  be sponsored by your child or another eligible
  sponsor in Australia. If you are a parent of an
  Australian citizen, a permanent resident or an
  eligible New Zealand citizen who is settled in
  Australia, the Aged Parent Visa 864 will allow
  you to live in Austalia permanently.

With this visa you can

• stay in Australia permanently
• work and study in Australia
• enrol in public health care scheme
• sponsor your family members or relative to
  Australia

Travel to and from Australia for 5 years

• You can travel to Australia and from Australia as
  many times as you want for 5 years. If you want
  to travel after the 5 years
• you need to apply for and be granted a Resident
  Return (RRV) so that you can re-enter Australia
  as a permanent resident.
• you also want to consider Australian citizenship.
  If you become an Australian citizen, you don't
  require any visa to enter Australia. You will
  only need to apply for an Australian passport and
  use it travel to and from Australia.

If you hold a Contributory Parent (Temporary)
(subclass 884) visa

• You can apply for the subclass 864 visa as a
  two-step process by first applying for a
  Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) (subclass
  884) visa. Applying for the subclass 884 visa and
  then the Subclass 864 visa allows you to spread
  the cost of the visas over a number of years.
• How long you can stay
• This is a permanent visa. It lets you stay in
  Australia indefinitely, yourpermanent residency
  starts on the day visa granted.

Include Family

• You can include your family members in your
  application when you apply. The Contributory Aged
  Parent Visa Subclass 864 Australia lets you
  include your family members with this visa.  
• You also need to include details of all your
  family members in your application form whether
  they are migrating or not. Family members who
  apply for the visa must meet the health and
  character requirements. Family members who are
  not coming to Australia also have to meet health
  and character requirements.

Apply From

• You must be in Australia, but not in immigration
  clearance. If you apply in Australia, any family
  members who apply with you must also be in
  Australia, but not in immigration clearance when
  you apply.
