Was it only a dream?
In 1967 a plan was devised by 91 Midland leaders
to bring the town back to life. They
established 54 objectives. 51 objectives have
been met. One of the 3 objectives yet to be
accomplished is the creation of a Public Tennis
Center

  • To give everyone the opportunity to experience
    the game of tennis, regardless of physical,
    financial or geographical barriers.
  • A Public Tennis Center will also

    corporations, teams coaches.
  • Foster economic development in Midland through
    additional USTA UIL district, regional and
    national tournaments.
  • Strengthen the efforts of allCommunity Based
    Organizations.

We do this by collaborating with
  • Community Based Organizations Big Brothers,
    Big Sisters, Boys Club, Girls Club, Camp
    Fire, Casa de Amigos, YMCA, churches, Greater
    Ideal, High Sky, Martin Luther King Community
    Services, etc.
  • School Systems Regional ISDs MISD, private,
    charters, church schools, and home-taught
    associations.
  • Special Population Programs Wheelchair
    Tennis, Hearing Impaired, and Special Olympics.

The reason USTA chose Casa de Amigos was because
children could receive after-school tutoring as

    require a place to foster consistent practice
    routines playoffs.
