  • Culturally, Belfast is extremely vibrant a
    variety of arts festivals take place throughout
    the year, in addition to the entertainments
    offered by the city's many theatres, cinemas,
    museums, art galleries, pubs and clubs. Northern
    Ireland's compact and lively capital, Belfast, is
    casting off its old image and new investment is
    changing the face and the atmosphere of the city.
    The city's historic nineteenth century
    architecture now competes with spectacular new
    developments.

  • Queens University Belfast
  • Queens University Belfast, located in Northern
    Ireland, is also part of the United Kingdom (UK)
    education system. UK education enjoys a
    reputation for unsurpassed quality throughout the
    world. With a history dating back almost 800
    years, the British way of learning has inspired
    education systems the world over and is still
    among the most valued and successful.
  • The Queens University campus is located in the
    attractive south side of the city of Belfast. One
    of the citys best known thoroughfares is the
    so-called Golden Mile. This area, right beside
    Queens, is packed with restaurants, bars, cafes,
    clubs and cinemas, and is popular with students
    and young people throughout the year.

Program Overview
  • International Summer School
  • This interdisciplinary programme is hosted by the
    Institute of Irish Studies and held at the
    historic Queens University of Belfast. Lectures
    and seminars are given by internationally-acclaime
    d scholars on various aspects of the study of
    Ireland, including history, politics,
    anthropology, film and theatre, language and
    literature.
  • Students will be given the opportunity to meet
    and have discussions with representatives of
    Northern Irelands political parties. This
    usually takes place at Stormont Parliament
    Buildings, the seat of devolved government in
    Northern Ireland. Meetings will also be arranged
    with representatives of local community groups
    and with the Strandtown Neighbourhood Policing
    Team in East Belfast Police Service of Northern
    Ireland

  • All students participate in the same Irish
    Studies Lectures and seminars that are given by
    internationally-acclaimed scholars on various
    aspects of the study of Ireland, including
    history, politics, anthropology, film and

Accommodation
  • Summer School students will stay at the Queen's
    Elms Halls of Residence. Accommodation will be in
    either single rooms (with washhand basin only) or
    in ensuite rooms (with toilet and shower). Bed
    linen, including duvet and pillow, will be
    supplied. Towels will not be provided and
    students are asked to bring their own. A
    continental breakfast will be available each
    morning. Breakfast is normally served between
    8.009.00 a.m.
  • There will be a self-service laundry at your
    accommodation.

  • 150.00 CND - Application fee
  • Cost to Queens University Belfast
  • 1,185 includes All tuition, accommodation in
    ensuite room (with own shower and toilet) on
    campus with continental breakfast, fieldtrips and
    cultural visits, meals while on fieldtrips
  • 1,115 includes As above but accommodation in
    single room (washhand basin only). Shared shower
    and toilet facilities on each floor.
  • 765 includesTuition only

Application Process
  • Attend one of the mandatory group advising
    sessions for Summer Abroad in Northern Ireland.
  • Submit completed application to Education Abroad
    Program by March 16th, 2008.
  • If you are selected to participate in program you
    will then be required to complete the application
    to Queens University Belfast.

  • GPA requirements
  • 2.7 current
  • 2.5 cumulative
  • If you are in the Faculty of Science you must
    have completed 15 of course work at the time of
    application.
