The Councils Mission

• The Council of Chief State School Officers,
  through leadership, advocacy and service, assists
  chief state school officers and their
  organizations in achieving the vision of an
  American education system that all children to
  succeed in school, work and life.

CSI Overview

• The Consortium of School Improvement (CSI) is an
  out growth of CCSSOs work with the State Support
  Team Network and the High Poverty Schools
  Initiative
• CSI focuses on building the capacity of states to
  support low-performing districts and schools.
• CSI is one of several projects at the CCSSO aimed
  at assisting states in closing the achievement
  gap.

CSI and CDDRE

• CSI is part of the Center for Data-Driven Reform
  in Education (CDDRE) at Johns Hopkins University,
  a federally funded research center focused on
  school improvement.
• CDDREs scope of work includes
• Engaging state and district leaders in data
  conversations
• Helping leaders identify root causes using
  student-level data
• Helping leaders select research-based CSR
  interventions to help schools meet AYP
• Helping leaders monitor progress using quarterly
  assessments
