Students who transfer to Nazareth after having

  • Degree requirements including full and modified
core requirements are outlined on pp 55-58
    Academic Policies Procedures Handbook

Students who transfer to Naz with an AAS degree,
from a two-year college without any degree, or
from a four-year college (ie. No AA or AS degree)

    basis
  • Are NOT guaranteed 60 credits and junior status

Transfer Credit Equivalency Report TRER
contains lots of information
  • Lists transfer courses applied to core and major
    by college
  • Displays transfer courses and/or funky courses
    and Naz equivalencies

19
Tips for advising transfer students
  • Pick up advising folders 2 or 3 days prior to
advising program to review transfer credit
  • Make notes in advising folders about remaining
    requirements, substitutions, waivers, etc.
  • Create sample timeline (in pencil) for completing
    degree requirements
  • Complete blue sheet for course equivalencies

20
Tips, cont..
  • Compare program evals with transfer credit evals
    for accuracy.
  • Report errors to Elaine or Gary.

21
more tips
  • Transferring, regardless of previous institution,
requires adjustment. Discuss reduced course load
during first semester in order to ease
transition. Also discuss ways to make up make up
    reduced load.
  • Encourage students to print out and review
    Program Evaluations prior to advising
    appointments.
  • Encourage students to meet with certification
advisor on a regular basis to coordinate
    requirements with major, core, etc.

22
more tips
  • Remember the BIG picture. UG degrees require a
    minimum of 120 credits.
  • Students who transfer in 60 credits may need more
than an additional 60 credits to satisfy degree
    requirements.
