Evolution Of Modern Herbal Science

The skin care industry has, by far, seen the most
diverse changes over the past few years. Not only
have the changes been drastic, but also skin care
has also come full circle. What does this mean?
Skincare in the earlier days was done by making
use of what was naturally available to us. We
used the products derived from nature to help
keep our skin healthy. We were also aware that
what we ate on a regular basis played a big part
in deciding the health of our skin. However, we
lost touch with nature and got caught up in the
commercialization of chemical based skin care
products.

It is only in the past few years where people
have begun to realize the importance of organic
and natural products. The impacts of the
unhealthy consumption of chemically driven
products have been brought to light. Today, there
is more demand for natural and organic products
by consumers across the world. People have
realized that at the end of the day, nothing can
nurture our skin better than nature itself.
Many skin care companies, being aware of this
shift in demand for organic products by their
consumers, have begun infusing natural
ingredients in their products. Among the most
common ingredients are neem, tulsi, aloe vera
etc. These are the ingredients that are said to
have healing abilities. Unfortunately, because of
the obvious increase in demand, established skin
care companies sold products labelled organic or
natural at a higher price. Today, a common notion
is that organic products are likely to cost more
than what is otherwise considered to be normal
skin care products.

It is at a time like this that modern herbal
science came to existence. It is said that in the
past three decades, the use of modern herbal
medicine has grown multifold. In fact, data shows
that not less than 80 of the people across the
world rely on herbal medicine for some part of
primary health care. This was also the time
during which skin care evolved and more skin care
companies were adapting natural formulas to
create skin care products that would accomplish
the purpose of natural skin care, and at the same
time visually (packaging and design) appeal to
the modern consumer.
In the past decade, skin care companies such as
IHA, that offers the consumers skin care that is
created with natural ingredients, came into
existence. IHA makes use of the knowledge of
Ayurveda and of various skin ailments to offer
safe skin care products to its consumers. Today,
people from all over the world are switching to
herbal products and trying to gain access to
knowledge of Ayurvedic science. Thus, the skin
care industry went through a complete cycle of
evolution and is now back, where skincare began
all those years ago with Nature.
