  • Colorado Wine Quality Evaluation Program is
    designed to
  • Use a professional blind tasting panel to
    identify significant commercial flaws
  • provide certified laboratory analysis of flaws
  • confidentially inform the winery of problems
    identified
  • and educate the winery in ways to fix the
    existing problems
  • In order to avoid future problems

  • The winery two samples for tasting and for lab
    analysis if necessary, plus shipping to CWIDB
  • The CWIDB will pay for
  • tasting panel member expenses
  • the tasting process, venue and logistics
  • Lab analysis and shipping
  • CSU Enologist consultation
  • Seminar and educational activities

  • Max Ariza, faculty of Johnson and Wales

  • Trained Colorado winemakers

  • How will this work?
  • Wines submitted to CWIDB or tasting location
  • Blind tasting with ringers
  • Evaluation card with comments to identify flaws
    and a very simple scoring method
  • Panel will discuss anything identified to contain
    commercial flaws
  • Second sample will be sent lab for analysis after
    winery is notified
  • Results sent directly to the winery
  • You will have the option of going to your own
    consultant

these ingredients or concerns could be rejected
as a commercially flawed wine

  • ETOH (meets TTB registration)
  • SO2
  • Microbial Spoilage
