- In 2002, MOST started technical standard
strategy, invested almost 2 billion Yuan to
implement the special fund of Research on
important technical standards , and developed
more than 30 international standards and more
than 500 national standards. - Under the background of economic globalization,
more and more Chinese products have been exported
abroad. However, more than 71 export enterprises
and 39 export products had been restricted by
technical barriers which had caused the loss of
USD 17 billion in 2002.

protection of intellectual properties, and accept
American standards. - Thirdly, U.S. shouldnt place obstacles to
Chinese export products by using technical
standards.

- Fourthly, both countries would cooperate with
each other in the areas which combine human
resource intensive characteristics with
technology intensive characteristics, such as
agricultural products, textiles, traditional
Chinese medicines, etc. - Finally, China hopes to participate to develop
standards which are important to Chinese markets.
