The birth of Baby Jesus
Mary the mother of Jesus
  • In the sixth month Mary is visited by an angel,
    Gabriel tells her she will give birth to the son
    of God, Jesus.
  • Mary is afraid but the angel tells her not to be

Mary the Mother of Jesus
  • He would be great, and called the Son of the Most
  • Gabriel also tells her that Elizabeth her cousin
    is also pregnant.
  • Mary was chosen to be the mother of Jesus because
    she found favor with God.
  • Mary became pregnant when the Holy Spirit came
    upon her.

Visiting Elizabeth
  • Mary visits Elizabeth, who is also pregnant,
    carrying a boy who will become John the Baptist.
  • Jesus cousin.
  • Upon hearing Marys voice Elizabeths baby jumped
    in her stomach.

Visiting Elizabeth
  • John will prepare the way for Jesus ministry.
  • Mary stays until Elizabeth gives birth to John.
  • Mary leaves when she is three months pregnant.

  • Joseph did not believe Marys story of how she
    became pregnant. So he wanted to break up with
  • An angel of the Lord Gabriel appeared to him in a
    dream and said, Joseph son of David, do not be
    afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because
    what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

  • She will give birth to a son, and you are to give
    him the name Jesus, because he will save his
    people from their sins.
  • Joseph was a righteous man that is why he was
    chosen to be Marys husband.
  • After the angel appears to Joseph he takes her
    home to be his wife.

Going to Bethlehem
  • In those days the government decided that they
    should count everyone that lived in that area of
    the world.
  • Joseph has to take Mary to Bethlehem in order to
    be counted.

The Inn
  • When they reached the town, all the inns were
    filled and there was nowhere that they could
  • Finally someone felt bad for them and offered
    them there barn to stay.
  • Mary was about to have the baby.
  • When the baby was born they laid him in a manger
    which is a where they feed animals and wrapped
    him in swaddling clothes which are strips of

The Shepherds
  • Out in the fields of Bethlehem at night, a group
    of shepherds are surprised by a host of angels.
  • When the angels had left them and gone into
    heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Lets
    go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has
    happened, which the Lord has told us about.

The Shepherds
  • So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph,
    and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When
    they had seen him, they spread the word
    concerning what had been told them about this
    child, and all who heard it were amazed at what
    the shepherds said to them.
  • After the shepherds saw Jesus they spread the
    word about Jesus birth.

The Magi
  • Magi are astrologers travel from the east to
    Jerusalem, because they see a star searching for
    a newborn king, and meet King Herod Where is the
    one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw
    his star in the east and have come to worship
  • Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out
    from them the exact time the star had appeared.
    He sent them to Bethlehem and said, Go and make
    a careful search for the child. As soon as you
    find him, report to me, so that I too may go and
    worship him.

The Magi
  • When the Magi saw Jesus they gave him gifts of
    Gold Frankincense and Myrrh
  • They also worshipped him

Escaping to Bethlehem
  • King Herod orders the killing of all newborn boys
    in Bethlehem, but Mary, Joseph and Jesus escape.

  • After they had heard the king, they went on their
    way, and the star they had seen in the east went
    ahead of them until it stopped over the place
    where the child was. When they saw the star, they
    were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw
    the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed
    down and worshipped him.
  • Then they opened their treasures and presented
    him with gifts of gold and of incense and of
  • And having been warned in a dream not to go back
    to Herod, they returned to their country by
    another route.

Escaping to Egypt
  • King Herod wanted to kill all the children under
    the age of two
  • An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told
    him to leave Bethlehem and go to Egypt.
  • But the story does not end there.

    visit being on the 6th month?
