• Social Studies teachers are successfully
  integrating technology.
• Teachers should not focus on the mastery but
  continual implementation.
• Offer opportunities for students to use the
  Internet to locate information.
• Teacher needs to assistance help students
  differentiate between factual information.
• Incorporating technology into teaching aids in
  creating good citizens
• Social Studies teachers evolve their teaching
  with technology with continual professional
  development.

Using Technology in the Classroom

• Teachers need to model correct uses of
  technology.
• Teachers need to be offered ongoing training and
  use this in their daily instruction.
• Teachers are guided by NETS standards which
  instruct them to make the learning experience
  come alive.

Digital Archives

• Teacher needs to demonstrate how to locate
  accurate historical information.
• The Virginia Center for Digital History provides
  projects that allow students to locate
  information related to events in history.
• These sites help expose students to local and
  global issues with teacher driven projects and
  allow students political participation.
• Meets NETS standards 3 and 5 of improving
  students use of technology by locating and
  interpreting historical information related to
  their learning.

PowerPoint

• Teacher use is ongoing to assist students.
• Meets NETS (1,3,4and 5) of students operating
  technological systems and using technological
  tools to benefit themselves by justifying learned
  knowledge. It also helps them gather knowledge
  from using technological research tools.
• The students apply multiple technological formats
  to communicate knowledge obtained to a variety of
  audiences.

• Provides opportunities of enhancing social
  studies teaching and learning.
• Global diversity through the interaction of
  multiple individuals.
• This communication tool limits the development
  behavior of social interaction, self reliance,
  and fantasy.
• Needs to be a tool of mastery
• Meets the NETS standards 4 and 6 of engaging in
  problem solving decisions, and interaction with a
  diverse type of audience.
