Methodological aspects
  • The volume of the sample 300 subjects
  • The number of villages selected in the
    construction of the sample 12 villages all
    villages were situated in the same geographical
    area (Timis County, Western Romania) with a high
    potential for agro tourism and bio-cultivation
  • Data collection 1- 12 June 2005, done by
    students from the Faculty of Sociology in
    Timisoara
  • Target group people from Timiscounty in rural
    area, between 18-55 years, unemployed,
    housewives, people who are interested in starting
    a new activity
  • Selection of the subject in the sample random

The main objectives of the research
  • To identify the level of the knowledge for
    alternatives forms of occupations agro tourism
    and bio-cultivations
  • To determine the developmental potential for the
    alternative forms of occupation in the villages
    from Timis county
  • To appreciate the main forms/products of the
    agro tourism and bio-cultivation which could be
    developed in villages or in the neighbourhoods
  • To establish a profile of the tourists who
    visited the Timis villages during the last year

Conclusions
  • More than 2/3 subjects from the sample know the
    terms agro tourism (69) and ecological
    product (74). For the most subjects agro
    tourism mean rural tourism(81) and pensions
    (8). Otherwise, bio-cultivation mean products
    without chemicals for the 94 subject from
    sample
  • In the opinion of the subjects, the rural areas
    from Timis County have a development potential
    for alternative forms of occupation. Therefore,
    70 subjects mention potential for the agro
    tourism and 67 consider the agrarian cultures
    with ecological products as a alternative for
    people occupation

  • Most of the part of the developmental potential
    for agro tourism is represented by natural
    touristical objectives (rivers and lakes 46,3,
    natural landscape 25,6)
  • The potential for the agrarian cultures with
    ecological products is made by the high fertility
    of the land (73 from the subjects) an by the
    manure (18 from the subjects)
  • The most suitable forms for agro tourism in
    Timis villages are country vacation and fishing
    (25,9 form the subjects), country vacation (21)
    and country vacation and hunting (19,6)

  • The subjects responses indicate that the most
    adequate agrarian cultures with ecological
    products are tomato (23), pepper (17,8),
    potato (17,4) as a vegetables apple (27,1) and
    plumb (24,6) as fruits grain (35,3) and corn
    (32,3) as a cereals.
  • If they have the possibility and knowledge, less
    that 2/3 from all subject are available to start
    an alternative occupation in agro-tourism (64 )
    and to develop an agrarian cultures with
    ecological products (62)
  • Approximate half of the subjects of the sample
    are interested to take part at educational
    programme related to the alternative forms of
    tourism (54) and bio-cultivation (48)

  • The training needs for the alternative
    occupation in agro-tourism are notions of
    agro-tourism (27,6), management of pensions
    (23,6), opportunity to finance of the
    agro-tourism pensions (15) and marketing in
    agro-tourism (11)
  • The topics of training for bio-cultivation are
    technology and specifically information for the
    bio-cultivation (28,8), notions of
    bio-cultivation (24,4) and ecological treatments
    for cultures (13,1)
  • For each of the educational programme, the main
    forms for are classroom (more than 1/3 from all
    subjects) and distance learning -including
    meetings (for around 1/3 for all subjects).
