  rewards that we receive will be

Based upon the quality of our service

• A. Perishable or imperishable (1 Cor 925)
• B. Tried by fire (1 Cor 313)
• C. Therefore good or bad (2 Cor 510)

Examined for motive

• Since we can, of ourselves, accomplish no eternal
  work (1 Cor 35-7)
• Thus the question will be Did I do this to bring
  glory to God?
• Thus, the motive of the heart will be the
  criteria (1 Sam 1617)

III. Related to how we have been used

• Crown of Rejoicing (1 Thess 29, 19 Phil
  41)results in peoples lives
• Crown of Righteousness (2 Tim 48)results in our
  heart
• Crown of Life (James 112 Rev 210)results in
  our life
• Crown of Glory (1 Peter 54)results in those
  whom we lead

IV. Based upon our usefulness to God

• In every case, the results are up to God if they
  are to be eternal, and thus not a reward for
  our efforts, but what God has done through us
  (Rev 410).
• Therefore, it is not a reward of our effort, or
  our works.
• It is a reward for willingness to be Gods
  instrument (Heb 412 Rom 616-17 John 321 Col
  322 Eph 66 1 Sam 167)

V. Sohow should we serve?

• Focus on responsibility What does Gods Word
  tell me to do (Eph 61-2, 5-7 1 Thess 36-10
  Titus 24-5)
• Distrust feelings Remember that what I enjoy may
  not be what God wants (Heb 1124-26 Acts 167
  cf. 1 Peter 11)
• Exercise caution and
• Act corporately (1 Cor 16)
