pass or come in for their lunch period. These do
not include students who use the media center
before or after school.

Funding from Grants
  • Out of three grants written on behalf of
    Irondales Media Center, only one was funded this
    year. We received 1,000.00 from U.S. Bank to
    purchase new, fiction books.

Computer Lab Statistics
There are two computer labs adjacent to the Media
Center. They are scheduled and maintained
independently of the media center. Due to a
change of staff in April, 2006, statistics for
walk-in students were only recorded for the month
of May and June.

Learner Outcomes
  • Over the course of the school year, Irondale
    students work in the IMC to meet Information and
    Technology standards as established by Mounds
    View Schools. These students achieve specific
    benchmarks in learning as they work to meet these
    standards. The following slides provide some
    examples.

1. Use information technology and library
resources to implement a systematic research
process.
  • English 9 Shakespeares World research
    project. Students systematically researched a
    variety of aspects of life in Elizabethan
    England.
  • Soc. St. 9 Project Citizen Students are
    required to identify a problem find evidence to
    prove the problem exists research background on
    the problem present potential solutions to the
    problem. This is also a state competition in
    which several Irondale students competed.
  • Honors Eng. 10 Historical Narrative Students
    research events and people from the year 1990
    then develop a fictional character based on that
    research.
  • Environ. Science Environmental Issue Research
    Students select and research a subject related to
    the field of environmental science that is
    currently controversial.

2. Use information technology resources to meet
independent learning needs and interests.
