Encoding of Wavelengths

• Wavelengths in optical networks are set up for
  certain frequencies or lengths (nm) in either
  CWDM or DWDM networks
• ITU has standardized these into grids with a
  certain spacing (again in Hz or nm)
• Wavelength value and frequency value can be used
  as label. A consistent labeling codification
  needs to be defined
• Motivation More more interop scenarios are
  beginning to crop up best to redefine it early
