Title: The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working' Elijah was a man with a nature li

1
The prayer of a righteous person has great power
as it is working. Elijah was a man with a nature
like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might
not rain, and for three years and six months it
did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again,
and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its
fruit. (James 516-18)
2
And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go up, eat and drink,
for there is a sound of the rushing of rain." So
Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went
up to the top of Mount Carmel. And he bowed
himself down on the earth and put his face
between his knees. And he said to his servant,
"Go up now, look toward the sea." And he went up
and looked and said, "There is nothing." And he
said, "Go again," seven times. And at the seventh
time he said, "Behold, a little cloud like a
man's hand is rising from the sea." And he said,
"Go up, say to Ahab, 'Prepare your chariot and go
down, lest the rain stop you.'" And in a little
while the heavens grew black with clouds and
wind, and there was a great rain (1 Kings
1841-45)

And Elijah said to Ahab, "Go up, eat and drink,
for there is a sound of the rushing of rain." (1

And Jesus answered them, "Truly, I say to you, if
you have faith and do not doubt, you will not
only do what has been done to the fig tree, but
even if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up
and thrown into the sea,' it will happen. And
whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if
you have faith." (Matthew 2121-22)

ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who
doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven
and tossed by the wind. For that person must not
suppose that he will receive anything from the
Lord he is a double-minded man, unstable in all
his ways. (James 16-8)

Elijah's
success
And he told them a parable to the effect that
they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He
said, will not God give justice to his elect,
who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long
over them? I tell you, he will give justice to
them speedily..." (Luke 181-8)

And at the seventh time he said, "Behold, a
little cloud like a man's hand is rising from the
sea." And he said, "Go up, say to Ahab, 'Prepare
your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop
you.'" (1 Kings 1844)

And the Lord said, "If you had faith like a grain
of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry
tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and
it would obey you." (Luke 176)

And in a little while the heavens grew black with
clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And
Ahab rode and went to Jezreel. (1 Kings 1845)
