generation Asians to deep spiritual maturity and
respond with passionate service for God as they
build the church of the 21st century.
Mission
To empower, affirm and partner with local
churches for effective 21st century ministry to
second generation Asians in North America.
Bringing a broad range of ministry experience in
a team of visionary mentors, using creative
methods to train, equip, and teach local church
workers and their youth.

Challenges Facing the Asian Church Today
  • 2nd generation Asians do not return to their 1st
    generation home church
  • Churches lack understanding of, and resources for
    ministry to 2nd generation Asians
  • Unable to find a full-time youth or English
    pastor
  • Few English speaking pastors available for the
    Asian American community
  • Ministry needed to provide mentoring and training
    to the second generation

Words on the Street?
We see the need to present the gospel to all
people and ethic groups who are within reach of
our church. But we lack the manpower to get the
job done. We want to start the ministry by
preparing the ground so that it will be good
soil. When our second generation are
evangelized, discipled and trained, they can then
be empowered to reach our community.
Edmund Yeung Sr. Pastor Faith Chinese Alliance
It is vitally important that we minister
effectively to the second generation because
there is great potential for them to be workers
who will build Gods kingdom. They have
opportunities, not only to reach China, but the
entire world. Unfortunately, many are turning
away from the church rather than being turned on
to God. It is time to empower the second
generation to launch another Great Awakening.
Craig Ing, Volunteer Youth Worker The Lords
Grace Church
We need to see the 1st generation embracing the
2nd generation by blessing, supporting, and
releasing them to follow their God given
destinies in the same way Elijah mentored
Elisha. The young need to be given the freedom to
pursue their calling which God has put upon them.
The warrior (the church) needs the bow to launch
the arrow (the youth) by giving them the
approval, support and prayers to send them
equipped into the world (Psalm 1274).

Assistant The River Church Community

  • Prayer support

9
Mentoring Cell - Curriculum
  • Distinctives of Ministry for the
Postmodern/Millennial Generation In order to do
effective ministry in the 21st century, the
church cannot depend upon methods used in the
past. The gospel message remains the same, but
the way in which it is communicated must speak to
the minds and hearts of todays generation.
  • Ministry in the Context of Second Generation Too
often, bilingual Asian churches try to apply the
same strategy for ministry to all groups. But
those who have been born or raised in the western
world will receive, process and give information
in radically different ways. We can make
ministry more relevant if we know how to
    communicate the message.
  • Follow Up on Listening to the Voice of God Mark
    Yacconellis presentation will generate many
thoughts, ideas and vision regarding your
ministry. Interact with others in a synergistic
effort to put our ministries in touch with what
God desires to do in our local churches.
  • Planning Your Annual Ministry With the coming of
the new school year, our churches will be looking
to starting up ministry again after the summer.
Staying focused on a vision for the entire year
will generate more results rather than jumping
from topic to topic as you go along.
  • Youth AlphaYouth Alpha is one of the greatest
tools currently available to help students share
their faith with friends. We will follow up the
training with a brainstorming session to help
each other get Alpha going in our churches.
Bring your ideas and see how we can work
    together.
  • Foundations SeminarThe Foundations Seminar will
give us a number of tools to help us in providing
effective ministry. Well take more time to
empty the toolbox and see what is useful in our
churches. Be sure to bring your entire ministry
team to participate in this session.
